Don’t count on Newsday, the Tribune-owned Long Island paper, going to News Corp (NYSE: NWS). just yet. Not only is Zuckerman still in the hunt, but new reports have Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) (the LI-based cable operator) making some kind of play for the company. Reuters suggests that the company may make a joint bid with budding media mogul Jared Kushner, owner of the New York Observer. When reports first surfaced, Kushner was identified as a possible bidder, so the report isn’t too far out of left field. The reason Newsday, a newspaper, is seeing so much interest: all of the potential buyers see regional and/or cost-saving synergies of varying degrees.
