CBS Expands Verizon FiOS Deal; VOD For TV, Full Episodes For VCast
CBS (NYSE: CBS) is broadening its deal with Verizon (NYSE: VZ) to include VOD rights for programs in both standard and high-def formats, 60 Minutes, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Survivor (pictured). The pact is in addition to an earlier arrangement with CBS shows on Verizon FiOS TV, its all-digital fiber-optic TV service, which is available in parts of 14 states.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Other specifics, such as the length of the contract the two signed, weren’t released either, though CBS Corp. CEO Les Moonves described the arrangement as “long-term” in a statement. Verizon isn’t just concentrating on FiOS TV, as CBS is allowing it to run full-length episodes of its programming on VCast, Verizon Wireless’ mobile video platform.
