The Chicago Sun-Times is bringing back the afternoon edition for the digital age. As part of a wholesale redesign of the daily newspaper’s print and internet units, online readers can sign up for a free, 10-page PDF of the newspaper that is emailed daily at 4:00 pm. Print subscribers also can get the new Sun-Times e-paper – a digital replica of the print product available every morning. The digital version allows readers to search by keyword, columnist, section and content.
The metro Chicago daily doesn’t want to miss out on the hyperlocal trend either. It’s unveiled an interactive feature called “jump2web” that lets readers “jump” from stories in the paper to related online content specific to readers’ neighborhoods and communities. Rounding out the overhaul are expanded blogs on topics including gardening, transportation, shopping, travel, health and neighborhoods. Release
