Chinese B2B Global Sources Buys Beijing Online Media Network Blue Bamboo

Trade Media Holdings, a subsidiary of Chinese B2B company Global Sources (Nasdaq: GSOL), has bought Beijing-based online media network Blue Bamboo China Ventures. Financial terms were not disclosed. Blue Bamboo operates four websites covering home renovation, overseas study, weddings and parenting aimed at urban Chinese consumers. The purchase is designed to complement Global Sources’ other recent internet moves, which include the launch of online and print lifestyle mag Elegant Living last May. As part of the deal, Blue Bamboo’s head Tom Melcher, a former senior executive at CNET, is moving over to Global Sources to manage the creation of its new online media division. Release.
