Cisco Scraps Scientific Atlanta Brand For Set-Top Boxes; “Visual Networking” As Its Buzzword
This was inevitable: Cisco (NSDQ: CSCO) has scrapped Scientific Atlanta’s name from the eponymous set-top boxes and instead is going to start using its own brand name on it. The announcement will come at CES next week, reports Multichannel. Cisco acquired Scientific Atlanta in 2006 for $6.9 billion, and has previously announced its intention to consolidate its brands…it has done the same with the other acquisition of home networking products company Linksys.

It is also coming out with a new buzzword for its social networking forays: “visual networking”, which is delivering any video to any device and providing personalized features. More in the release here.
