Comcast (NSDQ: CMCSA) is prepping an Xfinity Remote app that will connect with subscribers set-top box. Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts showed off the app, still in development, in a video demo during a session at The Cable Show. Roberts said eventually Comcast will want to bring TV to the app but this is about giving users control over their TV experience. The app includes navigation, sharing that automatically resets the other user’s screen to a show if they want, control over TV features like recording, and more. If it actually works beyond the demo, it could be a game changer. Comcast says the app hasn’t been submitted yet but plans to do so as soon as possible. To clarify, this isn’t only an iPad app. The version Roberts demoed is actually browser-based, using Safari, but is also still in development with no specific timeline for release. The video demo’s embedded below.
