Cooking.com, a food-focused e-commerce and content site, has taken $7 million in venture debt from ORIX Venture Finance. The Santa Monica-based company is primarily centered around selling cookware, but it plans to use the funding to build out a user community. Content-wise, the site already has articles and a collection of recipes, including some submitted by users. Judging by the prominence of content on the site now, it looks likely that the community stuff will mainly serve as a hook to boost the core business. Release.
