Digital Ad Firm AKQA Acquires Search Marketer Searchrev

Digital-ad shop is up Palo Alto-based search-marketer SearchRev. The WSJ reports that “the price tag is relatively small” given SearchRev’s annual revenue of just under $10 million. But for AKQA, based in San Francisco, it’s the kickoff for the company’s plans to build “the nation’s largest independent digital-marketing concern” in hopes of going public in a big way. AKQA’s bank account has been flush since PE firm General Atlantic bought a majority stake for an estimated $250 million last February.
