Worldwide Biggies, a digital production studio started two years ago by former Nickelodeon President Albie Hecht, has received $9 million in first-round funding, according to the NY Post. Participants in the funding round included NBC Universal, Hearst, Greycroft Partners, Platform Equity and PrismVentureWorks. In addition to the funding, NBCU has rights to distribute any digital content that Worldwide Biggies produces that might be worthy of being turned into a major production off-line. One forthcoming project is for gossip site TMZ.com: StarVsStar.com, billed as a fantasy-sports-meets-celebrity-scandal online game.
Disclaimer: Greycroft Partners is also an investor in our parent company ContentNext Media.
