Donovan Taps Rubicon’s JT Batson To Head Digital Division
It’s hard to believe, but some media buying transactions still require a fax number to get things done. For the past few years, companies like Mediabank and Donovan Data Systems have been trying to drag media agencies and sellers into the 21st century with software that allows for online transactions of ad buys. Still, the industry has a long way to go. Donovan is hoping that new hire JT Batson, who left online ad firm Rubicon Project earlier this month, will be able to get agencies to embrace digital methods once and for all.
Batson, who has been with Rubicon almost since the beginning, has served as the company’s EVP, Revenue and Global Development. At New York-based Donovan, he’ll be charged with overseeing the company’s digital agenda. Batson will also advise ad agencies and their burgeoning trading desks as they develop their digital businesses.

In a statement, Michael Donovan, chairman and CEO of the media buying platform, indicated that Batson will be an important addition as the company looks to build up its iDesk digital campaign management system.
Before Rubicon, Batson spent several months as senior marketing manager at Mozilla and held a similar role for a year at online ad marketplace AdBrite.
