The Active Network, a provider of technology for online sports/active lifestyle communities, has raised another $65 million, PE Hub reports.  That comes on top of a $35 million round late last year, bringing its total haul to $172 million.  Many return investors took part, including Canaan Partners, ESPN, ABS Ventures, Austin Ventures, Enterprise Partners and Charles River Ventures along with Performance Equity and Tao Venture Partners.  The investment will help the company continue its acquisition strategy, as it has purchased LaxPower.com and Cool Runnings so far this year.  Other than more deals, the company is mum on future plans, refusing to commit to an IPO or more VC funding.
