Earnings: Hearst-Argyle Q4 Revs Down 8 Percent; Digital Up 25 Percent

Hearst-Argyle (NYSE: HTV) has reported Q4 revenue of $216.6 million, down 8 percent year-over-year from $234.4 million. Net income slipped 23.8 percent to $33.6 ($.35 per share) million from $44.1 million ($.46 per share). The broadcaster attributed the decline to a big decrease in political ad spend, offset by strength in non-political ads. —Monthly unique visitors for HTV Digital hit 20.7 million in the quarter, up 148 percent from 8.3 million in the year-ago period.

—The company’s 30 YouTube channel’s had 20 million views in the quarter.

—For the year, the company invested $55.8 million into HD, technological infrastructure and digital media, plus another $3.6 million in strategic ventures.
