Event Organizer Renkoo Raises $6 Million Second Round; Eyes Social Net Apps

Silicon Valley-based Renkoo, one of many companies that’s tried to be the web 2.0 successor to Evite, has raised a $6 million second round led by Maveron Equity Partners, reports VentureBeat. Matrix Partners, which led an initial $3 million round, also participated. Its total raise is now at least $9 million. In addition to its own social networking site, the company is the backer of the popular Facebook app Booze Mail. Not surprisingly, given the extreme enthusiasm for social networking apps right now, the company plans to use the funding to build more on Facebook and other social networking services. It would not be surprising to see the company greatly de-emphasize the core service for which it was founded, as it slides over to the latest bandwagon.
