Events Registration Site Eventbrite Raises First Round Funding

Not much to do with content, but since we use it: Eventbrite, the event tickets registration system popular among the Web 2.0 crowd (we have been using it for two years now for all of our events), has received an undisclosed amount of funding from The European Founders Fund, reports Mashable. This is the company’s first round of external funding.

The San Francisco-based company plans to use the additional funds from The Samwer brother’s investment firm for customer acquisition, specifically targeting the social networking space, the company says. Speaking of social networking, I have been asking the CEO Kevin Hartz for almost two years to add a conference/event social networking element to the service, so that registered users through the Eventbrite system can contact and network with each other…I am hoping this money will allow it to finally build the functionality in.

Rafat,

you should have a look at european counterpart amiando, amiando.com
They have some great networking features and the ability for guests to write messages to each other.
