Former Fox Broadcasting entertainment chair Peter Liguori (pictured, left) has been named COO of Discovery Communications (NSDQ: DISCA). He succeeds Mark Hollinger, who last week was made president and CEO of Discovery Networks International, replacing Greg Ricca, who’s stepping down. Liguori resigned as chairman of entertainment, Fox Broadcasting, after five years in that network role, following a wider restructuring at News Corp (NYSE: NWS). back in March. In his new post, Ligouri will serve as the lead exec on Discovery’s joint ventures with Hasbro and the forthcoming OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. His extensive array of responsibilities will also include managing Discovery’s marketing and the Discovery Studios. He’ll also oversee corporate communications and Media Technology, Production and Operations. Release
