Ex-Yahoo’s Right Sized Media Raises $5 Million First Round
Stealth startup Right Sized Media (aka Entertonement), has raised a $5 million first round, according to PE Hub. The company, run by ex-Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) VP of media and entertainment David Mandelbrot is described as “an online media service for finding, playing and sharing pop culture quotes”. Earlier this year, the company was described by Mashable as a service for sharing and putting ringtones on a MySpace page. Apparently the company decided to suspend the site and refresh. The company isn’t commenting on what its current business will look like, or how it will have changed from its previous incarnation.

I’m not sure I understand what a “stealth” startup is.
Is that like an alternative to telling people you are “doing some consulting work.” As in: What are you up to these days? “I’m involved in a stealth startup.” That’s great. Works for me.
Also it’s great to learn that if you want to confuse people about what you’re really doing, say you’re working on a stealth startup that is all about sharing ringtones on MySpace.
Sounds absurd enough to be believable—about as absurd as an “online media service for finding, playing and shareing pop culture quotes.”
I wonder what these guys are *really* working on.

Mandelbrot and Jampol (Mandelbrot’s head of marketing, also a Yahoo refugee) are sharp guys, and if they are improving on what Entertonement showed before they went dark and back into stealth mode, I’m eager to see what they come out with.
