A federal judge in Los Angeles has thrown out a Universal Music Group’s copyright infringement lawsuit against video sharing site Veoh. UMG has lost similar cases; this is the second legal loss for the record label in its charge that Veoh violated its copyright because users uploaded videos to the site without the company’s permission. According to a release from Veoh, the court found that it complied with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act regarding regarding copyrighted material. Michael Eisner-backed Veoh had actually filed a pre-emptive suit against UMG, after the record company threatened it two years ago.
