Former AOL Exec Michael Sherrod Named Publisher Of Texas Tribune
Former AOL (NYSE: AOL) and Examiner.com exec Michael Sherrod is joining the non-profit news startup Texas Tribune as its first publisher. Sherrod has already been serving as a board member to the Austin-based news outlet, which launched in November. He was most recently CEO of the Examiner.com, a post he left after one year last March.
In between the Examiner.com and the Texas Tribune, Sherrod also founded a think tank called Sayerbook last April.
During his eight-year tenure at AOL, Sherrod rose to VP & GM of Community Operations & Network Integration and was one of handful executives chosen by Vice-Chairman Ted Leonsis and CEO Jon Miller to help mold one of AOL’s early turnaround strategies between 2003 and 2006.
Sherrod’s resume also includes stints with Ancestry.com, DigitalCity.com, American Airlines, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Business Courier, and his own Sherrod Publishing Company.
