Fox Interactive Media (NYSE: NWS) is expanding its MySpace online advertising network to include other News Corp. media properties and to handle ad serving for other companies as well, FIM President Peter Levinsohn told the Reuters Media Summit in New York. Levinsohn said the network—known internally as “FIM Serve”—could launch as early as the first half of 2008,Reuters reports. Discussions are underway with other News Corp. properties; Levinsohn added that FIM has only started to engage outside web publishers.
The network’s focus will be on display ads and should not threaten or conflict with its lucrative deal with Google, which provides search and contextual ad listings across FIM units such as MySpace and IGN.

Update: Also via Reuters (the summit is not open to outsiders, only Reuters (NSDQ: RTRSY) journos), Levinsohn also said MySpace will be “well down the path” of adding Facebook-style news feeds in the next 30-45 days. More interesting, perhaps, MySpace will let users create different profiles for different aspects of their lives—work. family, etc.
