Social gaming site Casual Collective has picked up $1 million from Lightspeed Venture Partners in its first round of funding. Founded in 2007 and launched in stealth mode in December, it relaunched today with a slew of new social-media features and games, Gamasutra reports. Founders Paul Preece and David Scott are successful Flash game developers (they’re behind the Desktop Tower Defense game distributed through sites like Kongregate and MySpace Games), and plan to offer both free and pay-to-play games on the site. There’s tons of competition from both large and niche casual game sites like Big Fish (which scored a massive $83 million round of funding in September).
