Gaming Site GameDuell Scores $17.45 Million For Expansion

Berlin- and San Francisco-based online casual gaming platform GameDuell has received an €11 million ($17.45 million) second-round investment from Wellington Partners with the cash due to be used for international expansion. The GameDuell site offers small card, puzzle and logic games, which can be played against people around the world for real prize money. Claiming over nine million players, the site is already available in nine languages across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Britain and the US. It aims to double its employee count. The site was launched with investment from Burda Digital and Holtzbrinck in 2003. Via Deutsche-Startups.
