Finally, George Harrison’s solo music has gone digital. Harrison died in 2001; his estate was the remaining holdout of the four Beatles but, according to Reuters, EMI’s Parlophone label said today that nine of his albums are available through “all digital service providers” and that more albums will follow. I just did a spot check and the nine albums, including All Things Must Pass, don’t appear to be available for subscription downloads, only sale; they are in Amazon’s MP3 store as singles and albums, at the Zune Marketplace for sale,  and at iTunes, which is also selling ringtones.

With the solo work of all four online, the next step should be the Beatles’ catalog. Harrison’s widow Olivia Harrison told Reuters earlier this year she expected the Beatles to be online by 2008 and Paul McCartney has said it’s “virtually settled.”
