Giftango Raises $1.4 Million For Email, Mobile Gift Cards

Giftango, a virtual commerce software firm, has raised $1.4 million worth of a $2.1 million first round of funding, per an SEC filing. The company confirmed the investment, but did not disclose the source. Retailers like Shilo Inns and Za Restaurant use Giftango’s platform to offer their customers virtual gift cards that can be bought online or in-store, then delivered and redeemed through email, SMS and smartphones. Portland-based Giftango was founded in 2005 by entrepreneur and former software developer David Nelsen.
