Google (NSDQ: GOOG) hasn’t given up on the Belgian newspaper stories linking and copyright issue…it has filed an appeal against the Belgian court’s February ruling, but says talks are ongoing and it hopes to avoid further court action, reports MarketWatch.
An appeal hearing is scheduled for July 17, but Google wants an extension for more negotiations, the story says. The two did a partial deal in May on how the copyrighted French- and German-language articles may be used by Google News…Google say it has still not paid any fines to Copiepresse, nor has it paid for the right to publish the links as Copiepresse has demanded.
