Google Buys Chips Programming Startup PeakStream

A technical acquisition by Google top boost its processing capabilities: it has bought PeakStream, a startup that sells tools for programming chips with multiple processing units, reports WSJ...the Redwood Shores, CA-based company had raised $17 million in venture capital from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sequoia Capital and Foundation Capital. Not sure what the immediate plans Google has for PeakStream, but it makes systems designed to run on both computer workstations and computer servers, which are used to manage network services. Google operates one of the world’s largest networks of servers but declines to detail its size, reports Reuters.
