Google Says Its Search Engine Now Has ‘50 Percent Fresher’ Results
Google (NSDQ: GOOG) is done with its lofty project of creating a “next-generation architecture” for its search engine. In announcing that the new web indexing system—code-named Caffeine—was in the works last August—Google said that most of the changes would be “under the hood” and wouldn’t be noticed by users.

But in a blog post this evening, Google lauds the consumer-facing results of the new system, which it says include “50 percent fresher results for web searches than our last index,” as well as “the largest collection of web content we’ve offered.” The company has a brief run-down of what is different. Sounds impressive, although it’s not as though users had been abandoning the old system, despite Microsoft’s best attempts to get them to defect.
