Hillcrest Labs, the maker of an interactive media navigation platform, has raised a $25 million second round led by Alliance Bernstein, with participation from existing backers New Enterprise Associates, Columbia Capital and Grotech Capital Group. The Rockvilly, MD-based company previously announced a $10 million raise in 2004, for a total of $35 million. Hillcrest has developed a graphical, zoomable interface for the TV, which users operate using a specialized ring-shaped remote control. The suite is designed to let users access a range of content over the TV with a system that recognizes hand motions. It says it has multiple deals with major companies that will bring its technology to market in the near future. Release.
