Hispanic Online Consolidation: Batanga Close To Buying HispanoClick: Report
Updated: Feb 4: the two companies have confirmed it. Batanga said it becomes “the first Hispanic content provider to acquire an ad network.” It said HispanoClick’s network has worked with more than 800 Hispanic publishers, and advertisers have included Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ), Kraft, Mazola, the U.S. Army, and Western Union.

Original post: Jan 29: Batanga, one of the bigger online Hispanic media companies and ad networks, is close to buying online ad network HispanoClick, according to a report in Portada Online. With this acquisition, the company will now compete in a bigger way with the U.S. Hispanic leader Univision.com. HispanoCLick was launched in 2004, and based in Verdun, Quebec.
Batanga is backed by Tudor Ventures and H.I.G. Ventures, both of which invested in a big $30 million round it did in summer last year.
