IAC Management Shuffle: Safka Tapped As Ask.com’s CEO; Lanzone Heads To Redpoint

As IAC prepares to spin-off its subsidiaries into into five separate, publicly traded companies - namely HSN, Ticketmaster, Interval International and LendingTree - the company is shuffling the management of its remaining pieces. As part of those changes, Jim Safka has been named CEO of Ask.com effective immediately. He will oversee Ask.com’s global operations and continue in his role as CEO of Primal Ventures, a new-venture entity that identifies seeds and incubates business opportunities for IAC (NSDQ: IACI). He was appointed to that role last year after serving as CEO of Match.com from 2004 to 2006.

As Safka step in, Jim Lanzone steps down from his role as Ask.com’s CEO. He’s leaving the company to become entrepreneur-in-residence at Redpoint Ventures. In addition to staying on through what’s expected to be a brief transition period, Lanzone will remain in an advisory role at Ask.com over the next few months.

Among the other changes at Ask.com, Scott Garell will take over as president of Ask.com. Since 2005, Garell has been CEO of IAC Consumer Applications & Portals. As part of the reshuffling, John Park, currently EVP/GM of Toolbars and Portals for the CAP group, will take Garrell’s old post. Meanwhile, not much will change for Peter Horan, CEO of IAC Media and Advertising since January 2007. The company said he will continue to oversee IAC Advertising Solutions as well as Evite, Pronto, IAC Mobile and Ask Sponsored Listings. Release
