In a surprise move, Andy Jonesco has resigned as MD of AOL UK with immediate effect, freeing him up to join Sky as the broadcaster’s head of digital strategy, reports NMA. Jonesco has been replaced by David Wolffe, SVP of corporate development and M&A at AOL Europe and formerly CFO at AOL UK.
Jonesco is credited as being a key figure in supervising the reinvention of AOL UK as an advertiser-funded portal business…he was appointed MD in November.
BrandRepublic: The broadcaster has also hired Julian Gorniok, a former group strategy and development director at GCap Media, to be deputy head of strategy across Sky’s digital properties. These two strategists will work across Sky’s existing online properties and will develop online strategies, such as how best to invest in customer communications.
