Industry Moves: Coppel Promoted To Yahoo CSO

Toby Coppel has been promoted to Chief Strategy Officer for Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) from SVP-corporate development. The unpublicized promotion (his Yahoo bio subtly changed) hasn’t changed his basic job description beyond a comma or two—he’s still responsible for “the development of the company’s strategy and for the identification and pursuit of new opportunities on a global basis, including internal development, mergers, acquisitions, investments, strategic partnerships and alliances, and joint ventures.” He reports directly to chairman and CEO Terry Semel and serves on the Executive Operations team. Coppel worked for Semel’s Windsor Digital as managing director, joining Yahoo in 2001.
—As it happens, Coppel is participating in our upcoming conference: The Economics of Social Media, April 26 in LA.
