Industry Moves: Dow Jones Appoints ESPN EVP As Chief Revenue Officer For Media Group

Dow Jones has created a new role of Chief Revenue Officer for for its consumer media group (which includes WSJ in print and online) and has appointed former ESPN EVP Michael Rooney to the position. He will start May 23. Rooney will “set and execute strategies for generating advertising revenues, leading the sales and advertising sales marketing staffs and being the lead representative with advertisers for The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Online, Dow Jones International Marketing Services and Dow Jones Integrated Solutions.” Essentially, the lead money man.

Prior to this Rooney was EVP of multimedia sales for ESPN, where he was responsible for all ad sales executives, sales management and tier support staffs. More here.
