imageGoogle has been slow in its foray into video-game advertising—and those plans could progress even more slowly now, since the company is losing Bernard Stolar, the Sony (NYSE: SNE) and Sega vet who’s been its dean of games and games industry evangelist (Google’s title, not ours) for the past two years. Google (NSDQ: GOOG) did not comment on whether it had found or was searching for a replacement.

Stolar has joined mobile content and app developer GetFugu as CEO, a sign that the San Francisco-based tech firm is eying its own foray into the wide-open mobile-gaming market. Stolar brings years of experience in both game software and hardware development to GetFugu: he served as an advisor to AdScape prior to its acquisition by Google in 2007, and headed up Mattel Interactive’s online and computer-based toy division for two years. He also served as president and COO of Sega of America; prior to that, Stolar was president of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) during the launch of the first PlayStation console. Release.
