Josh Quittner is ending his post-Business 2.0 stint at Fortune but is staying in the Time Inc. family, we’ve confirmed with a source familiar with the situation….Quittner, who has been executive editor of Fortune since B2.0 shut down last fall, is returning to Time full-time, where he will write a regular column for the magazine and blog on consumer tech, new product reviews, etc. for Time.com. Details are a little sketchy at the moment but the announcement is coming Wednesday.

Quittner joined B2.0, where he was editor, in 2002 after seven years at Time Inc.—including a stint as editor of Time.com and tech editor for Time. In 1995, he was part of the ill-fated Pathfinder crew, founding the Netly News. Despite his time at B2.0, his tech interest has always seemed to be more on the consumer side.

Update: Managing editor Rick Stengel announced this morning that Quittner will be editor-at-large and will continue to work from San Francisco.
