Playboy Reorg Promotes Vaickus To President; Digital Head Stephen Adds Print Duties

As Playboy (NYSE: PLA) Enterprises’ sale plans remain in a state of suspended animation, the company is making some internal moves as it looks to improve its dismal print and digital businesses. As part of a small restructuring, Alex Vaickus is being promoted from his current perch as EVP and president of global licensing to president of Playboy, a new position. In addition to keeping his licensing responsibilities, Vaickus will also oversee all business operations, including print, digital and TV. He’ll continue to report directly to CEO Scott Flanders, who joined the company in June.

In addition to Vaickus’ additional workload, Scott Stephen, presently EVP for Playboy Digital, will see his purview expanded as well. Stephen will now serve as EVP Print/Digital Group. Stephen will manage print publications, including Playboy magazine, special editions and other specialty titles, in addition to the online and mobile properties that he’s already been working on. A few years back, Stephen was EVP of operations for Playboy’s entertainment division. He’ll report to Vaickus.

In a statement, Flanders said the changes are meant to foster more collaboration, especially in light of the loss of Bob Meyers, who resigned as Playboy’s president of media this spring. But the personnel changes also reflect that Playboy, which closed down its New York office a few months ago and handed down a number of layoffs, simply has to do more with less. Release
