Industry Moves Roundup: NPR Digital, JumpTV CEO;  Hachette, Buzznet

NPR has appointed Maria Thomas as SVP, Digital Media. She has directed NPR’s digital media activities since 2001 asVP and GM of Online. She is responsible for NPR’s online and on-demand operations as well as its consumer products and e-commerce business and its library and archival activities.

JumpTV, the online video site, has appointed Jordan Banks as its new CEO, effective November 12. G. Scott Paterson, current CEO, will become Executive Chairman. Also, Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, company’s president and COO will resign in January next year “to pursue other interests”. Banks was most recently managing director of eBay (NSDQ: EBAY) Canada. Separately, the Canadian broadcaster said its directors have resolved to re-price certain stock option and stock appreciation rights previously granted to directors, officers, employees and consultants with an exercise price of 5.80 usd or more.

Hachette Filipacchi Media has named John Weisgerber as its new VP, digital advertising. Weisgerber, a former Forbes Media ad sales exec, will report to Hachette SVP Corporate Sales and Marketing Paul Turcotte.

Buzznet, an online social networking site focused on music, has hired Scott Boyd, formerly the managing director of AOL (NYSE: TWX) Music, as the firm’s General Manager of Music. Boyd will be responsible for all aspects of the firm’s music content, production, and programming.
