Industry Moves Roundup: Time Warner, News Corp., New York Times

A cluster of moves involving people who help shape the image of Time Warner, (NYSE: TWX) News Corp. (NYSE: NWS)  The New York Times (NYSE: NYT) Company:

Time Warner: An intriguing report from the NYT that former analyst Douglas Shapiro, who left Banc of America Securities in May, has joined TW and will head investor relations for incoming CEO Jeff Bewkes. He joined TW, which he covered as an analyst, a month ago; early this year he recommended acquiring the stock because he saw a chance for restructuring. Now, as Tim Arango reports, he could well be selling a restructuring to investors. (Then again, he could wind up explaining why the restructuring they seek isn’t coming as fast as some want.) Current head James Burtson “is expected to take on a broader role.”

News Corp.: Longtime spokesperson Andrew Butcher is returning to Australia. Teri Everett, SVP-corporate affairs and communications, switches coasts to NYC to succeed him as the chief spokesperson following seven years as top communications exec in LA. She’s succeeded in LA by Julie Henderson, who has been promoted to SVP-corporate affairs and communications from SVP for FIM. Both report to Gary Ginsberg, EVP-global marketing and corporate affairs. Release.

NYTCO: Catherine Mathis has been promoted to SVP-corporate communications, from VP. Also, general counsel Kenneth A. Richieri has been upped to SVP from VP. Release.
