Industry Moves: Slashdot Parent Appoints Scott Kauffman as New CEO

Scott Kauffman, the curiously prolific digital media vet, is now joining SourceForge, the tech publisher that is the parent company of Slashdot, as the new president and CEO.  The company, formerly known as VA Linux and one of the biggest IPO in the first Internet bubble era, has sites such as SourceForge.net, Slashdot, ThinkGeek, Linux.com and Freshmeat.net.

Kauffman was till recently the President and CEO of PopTok, and previously was the COO at BlueLithium (acquired by Yahoo); he has also been the CEO of Zinio, MusicNow and Coremetrics, all of these in the last seven years. He is joining SourceForge as a part-time employee for now, and will join full time on January 5 next year. Robert Neumeister, the interim CEO since June when previous CEO resigned, will continue until then….more details in release.
