- Emap: The magazine publisher’s consumer division has appointed the second and third of its planned three digital directors. Ralph Percival, e-commerce director at camera retailer Jessops, will head digital strategy for specialist titles, which include Today’s Golfer, Car and Motorcycle News. Andrew Robb will leave his post as head of eBay’s motors and category development to drive digital for Emap’s lifestyle titles, including celeb glossy Heat, women’s title Closer and lads mag FHM. They join former AOL Europe portal head Jonathan Turpin, who was earlier appointed digital director for Emap’s radio stations. The company aims to increase the digital component of revenue from 10 percent to 30 percent in the next three years through community, e-commerce and multi-platform expansion, but is effectively up for sale or break-up after it announced a structural review last month.

- Virgin Radio: Scottish Media Group, parent of what is reckoned to have been Europe’s first 24/7 internet radio station, has appointed former Chrysalis Radio CEO Richard Huntingford as non-executive chairman and David Palmer as CFO of Virgin Radio Holdings, as it prepares to float the radio group off this fall, Reuters reports. Former Ladbrokes finance director Rosemary Thorne joins as senior independent director to the board. Virgin Radio has built up a considerable following since it went online in 1996, having relied on a variety of internet streaming protocols to build audience in U.K. offices and around the world. Most recently, it began streaming to video games consoles. But Virgin Radio is now likely to be snapped up by another radio group to ease SMG’s fortunes.
