After a decade at ad holding company Aegis Media, David Verklin will leave his post as CEO of Aegis Media Americas at the end of the year, AdAge reports. He will be succeeded by Sarah Fay, who is currently CEO of both Carat and Aegis search marketing unit Isobar US. She will assume the role of CEO North America when Verklin steps down.

Adweek: The 52-year-old Verklin will stay on as an advisor to Aegis making his exit. Although he didn’t say what he plans to do next, he indicated he wasn’t interested in heading to another media shop or remaining in the agency business. He says that the decision to leave the agency was not related to recent account losses, such as the $800 million Hyundai/Kia business. Aegis’ $250 million New Line Cinema account has been shifted over to WPP Group’s MediaCom as a result of Time Warner’s (NYSE: TWX) merging the movie studio into Warner Bros. Entertainment; MediaCom handles media buys for Warner Bros.

AdAge: While Verklin may not be ready to divulge details of his next move, some are speculating that he could be tapped to lead Project Canoe, the joint initiative started by Comcast involving five of the other major cable operators to sell customized, targeted ads across the major cable operators’ networks. Frank Foster, co-founder of Erin Media and senior consultant for EVAD Consulting’s TV-audience-measurement practice, told AdAge that the cable operators had been searching for someone with ad agency experience to oversee the project, which is slated to launch later this year.
