International Community Site Hi5 Secures $20 Million In Funding

Global social net hi5 has raised $20 million in funding as part of a round led by Mohr Davidow Ventures, according to GigaOm. The San Francisco-based start-up began its existence as a matchmaking site aimed at Indian expats. These days, the site has a more general reach and claims to have more than 50 million members and is said to be popular in Latin America, Mongolia, Tunisia and Romania. The site has tried to enhance its appeal to a young, globalized demo by seeking to draw in content though hi5’s music efforts.

50 million members. How is that possible? That sounds over inflated to me. I think they may have had that many uniques over the past few months.
