imageJackass, the MTV show where its stars willingly, even eagerly, place mousetraps on their extremities, endure charges from electrodes placed on various body parts and take paint ball blows in the nude, has made its move to the Web. Jackass star and creator Johnny Knoxville and MTV are jointly running Jackassworld.com and the site will feature webisodes similar to the TV show while providing more opportunity for interaction among viewers and cast members. To promote the official launch, Knoxville, stars Bam Margera, Steve-O and the rest of the crew will take over programming for all day Saturday.

In an interview with CNET, Knoxville pointed out the internet’s immediacy, being able to upload footage within a day as opposed to waiting several weeks for the TV post-production process to be done, as the deciding factor in bringing the show online. When asked if Viacom (NYSE: VIA) and the internet are ready for a regular dose of Jackass antics, Knoxville stated, “Viacom left us alone. They’ve been very supportive in all this. It’s fun, man, having this outlet, you don’t have to wait for months to have something come out you can just shoot it and get it up and be on to something else… like productivity in the a**hole department is going to be up 73 percent, you know what I mean?”
