Kayak Sells Hotel Reviews Site TravelPost
Travel search engine Kayak has sold hotel information site TravelPost to an online travel startup founded by several former Expedia employees, which for now is going by the name NewTravelco. Travel tech news site Tnooz—which first reported the deal—says that as part of the transaction, Kayak is taking a stake in NewTravelco.

TravelPost—which competes primarily with Expedia-owned TripAdvisor—aggregates hotel reviews, as well as basic info—from other sites around the web. Sidestep purchased the site nearly three-and-a-half years ago, before subsequently merging with Kayak in a $200 million deal and taking on the Kayak name.
NewTravelco raised $9.8 million in a funding round earlier this month. CEO Greg Slyngstad says the company has been “developing our plans for several months.” He confirmed the acquisition but wouldn’t share any details about what the startup will do with TravelPost.
