Kids Learning Site Kidthing Raises $3 Million Angel Funding

LA-based kidthing, an online education service, raised a $3 million angel round from investors led by Alpinesky LLC. The site offers a social networking platform, as well as a downloadable digital media player for content purchased through kidthing.. Offerings include games, videos and digital books in a variety of languages. It promises a safe, ad-free environment that protects users from the rest of the open internet. CEO Larry Hitchcock was formerly at Pearson (NYSE: PSO) Digital Media, ITU Ventures and SkyRocket Pictures. The service is currently in beta with a planned launch for the spring. Release.
