Two “old school” social networks have opened up, and Bebo is announcing later today:
LinkedIn: Borrowing a cue from Facebook and others, business social net LinkedIn will let developers build app for its site, and added an activity feeds for its users connections. It has also launched a beta version of a redesigned home page…as part of that relaunch, LinkedIn has made a deal with BusinessWeek to provide content to the site, and also added aggregated headlines (see this as an example, if you are logged in). More details here.
Friendster: It has fully launched its developer platform with more than 180 apps available to its 56 million registered user..Companies and individual developers participating in the program are allowed to advertise anywhere in the application space and keep all revenue, reports News.com.
Bebo: Today, Bebo will launch its own developer platform at a press conference in San Francisco. Venturebeat reports it will be very similar to Facebook’s platform, with a markup language and structure so Facebook developers can easily port their applications to its site. It is designed to integrate with Open Social as well. Separately, Bebo has already launched its “Open Media” platform last month.
