Location-Aware Startup SimpleGeo Raises $1.5 Million
SimpleGeo has raised $1.5 million in funding from a roster of big-name investors, we have confirmed with the company. The startup’s technology is used by developers to easily make their web and mobile apps location-aware (Read more about it here). The round was led by First Round Capital. Angel investors Ron Conway, Digg founder Kevin Rose, Delicious founder Joshua Schachter, and Napster founder Shawn Fanning, among others, also participated.
There’s been lots of activity in the hot location-aware space, with iPhone social app Foursquare also raising a round this fall, on the heels of rounds and acquisitions by others in the market. SimpleGeo’s funding was first reported earlier today by CNET.
