Mevio, the early commercial entrant into the podcasting game then known as PodShow, has raised a big, $15 million third round led by Crosslink Capital, with past backers Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sequoia Capital, Sherpalo Ventures and DAG Ventures. It now is mainly focused on distributing video. The company has now raised over $38 million, with its last raise of $15 million coming in 2006. The company, co-founded by CEO Ron Bloom and Adam Curry (who will forever be referred to as former MTV VJ Adam Curry, despite the fact that that gig ended ages ago), touts the fact that it offers advertisers “brand safe” content on a large scale. It claims to have done 9 million monthly uniques in May, up 800 percent. And Bloom told Liz Gannes at NewTeeVee that the site will be profitable by the end of the year.
