Netflix Adds A Trove Of Indie Films To Its Streaming Catalog
Netflix’s online instant-streaming catalog is getting some indie cred. The company has reached deals with several big indie distributors, which will add about 300 new titles to Netflix’s online catalog. The distributors include the Criterion Collection, Gravitas Ventures, Kino Lorber, Music Box Films, and Oscilloscope Laboratories.

The deals are relatively minor in size, considering that Netflix (NSDQ: NFLX) had more than 17,000 films movies and TV shows available for instant streaming as of a year ago (The company hasn’t provided an updated figure since then. I asked). However, the film titles do bring a lot of weight to Netflix in the indie genre. Here’s a list of some of the films Netflix is adding.
During the company’s earnings call last week, Netflix credited the success of instant-streaming for driving the biggest jump in the ranks of its subscribers in its history.
