Nettwerk Productions Gets $650K From Canadian Government To Boost Digital Efforts

Canadian Music label Nettwerk Productions has received $650,000 from its government, according to P2PNet News. In a statement, the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Music Entrepreneur section of the Canada Music Fund said the funding is intended to help Nettwerk become more competitive “in a digitized global environment.”  The company represents Canadian acts such as Sarah McLachlan, Avril Lavigne and Barenaked Ladies. As P2PNet reported back in January, Nettwerk has sought to take on the RIAA by providing a lawyer to a 15-year-old music fan who was accused by the industry organization of illegally downloading songs from one of Nettwork’s recording artists.
