A rumor cropped up on SAI earlier today about New York Times (NYSE: NYT) hiring a banker to look for options for About.com, which of course surprised us based on what we knew: and as we suspected, the rumor is “horsesh*t” according to a top-level source. There, that gets settled. Of course About.com is in acquisition mode, and has done some small buys in the last year or so.
